If you haven’t tasted a quince dessert then you are certainly missing out on a delicious dessert! The beautiful blush color they become when they are baked with their seeds. Turkish quince dessert, or we call “ayva tatlısı” is looking forward to joining into your New Year recipe. If you love light desserts this is just for you!
Ingredients (4 servings)
- 2 large quinces
- 150 g light brown sugar
- 8 cloves
- 1 tsp cinnamon powder
- clotted cream or fat vanilla ice-cream
Wash quinces and peel them. Split into two quinces in a wide pan. Pour a glass of water into the pan. Add some quinces seeds and some peelings of quince skin, cinnamon powder and cloves into the the water. Pour all the sugar evenly over the quinces. Cover the pan with a lid or foil and bake in a very low oven 110C/230F for approximately 3 hours until quinces are tender, deep red and the syrup is thick. After cooling, add cream or fat vanilla ice cream on the side and serve. You can also serve it with nuts and walnuts or even pistachious.
